The Politics of Climate Change, Global Warming, Green House Gas

Dear Member:

The debate surrounding climate change, global warming and green house gas will undoubtedly result in legislation at both the state and federal level. That is why it is so important for you to become engaged in the discussions and to share your opinion with policymakers. Productive dialogue begins by asking tough questions and requiring straight answers. We can start by asking our elected officials the following questions to get the dialogue headed in the right direction:

1) Since experts say that our nation's growing electricity needs will soon go well beyond what renewables, conservation and efficiency can provide-what is your plan to make sure we have the electricity we'll need in the future?

2) What are you doing to fully fund the research required to make emission free electric power plants an affordable reality?

3) Balancing electricity needs and environmental goals will be difficult and costly-so can you tell me how much all this is going to increase my electric bill and what will you do to make it affordable?

Please join me in establishing a productive dialogue with elected officials by contacting them at the addresses listed on page 25 of this magazine. Let's ask them the tough questions and require straight answers-after all "That's the Cooperative Way!!"

Sincerely,

Charles L. Dawsey
