Start, Stop and Move Services
When you receive electricity from Benton REA, you are a member-owner of your electric cooperative. As such, we must have a signed membership card before we can provide electricity.
Here are two simple ways to get a signed membership card to Benton REA:
- Click on the Membership Card to get an Adobe Acrobat pdf file of the membership card. Print out the card, fill it out, and either fax it to Benton REA at (509) 786-0291, scan it an email the signed card to ebill@bentonrea.org, or mail it to Benton REA, P.O. Box 1150, Prosser, WA 99350.
- Visit one of our three Local Offices and fill out a Membership Card.
Deposit for Residential Service
Security is required prior to receiving electricity from Benton REA. There are two options to secure your residential electric account:
- Pay a $200 deposit (see payments section for how to pay)
- Provide a letter of credit from the most recent electric supplier indicating a maximum of one late payment in the past 12 months.
Deposit for Non-Residential
Deposits for service other than residential are determined by factors specific to your individual account. Contact Benton REA at (509) 786-2913 or (800) 221-6987 for more information.
New Construction
For new construction of electrical facilities, a Benton REA representative will meet with the member at the construction site to discuss your specific details. To schedule a visit at the site, contact Benton REA's Engineering department at (509) 786-8252, (877) 786-8866 or click on Engineering Site Visit and fill out the contact information, click on submit and Benton REA will contact you as soon as possible. A $100 engineering fee will be required at the site visit.
