Trustee-Jim Moon

Jim comes to the Benton REA board with a long history of service on a cooperative board. Jim served on the Pendleton Grain Growers Cooperative board on and off for nearly 30 years, serving as president in his last term. Jim believes his experience on a cooperative board will help in his transition onto the Benton REA board. After graduating from Prosser High School in 1966, Jim attended a local community college with an emphasis in business, but his education was cut short by the draft and the Vietnam war. Jim was injured and sent back stateside to finish his two years of military service and was honorably discharged in 1969. Upon his return to Prosser, Jim worked with his father and purchased a nearby farm, becoming a member of Benton REA in 1970. Jim and his wife Susan still raise dry land wheat on their farm on the Horse Heavens. Together they have raised three grown sons, Ryan, Garrett, and Devin. Jim says he has a lot of respect for the tenure of his predecessor, Howard Christen, who recently passed away. He says Howard left big shoes to fill, but he looks forward to the challenge.
