What You Can Expect Below are some standards that we have set for ourselves to make sure we meet the needs of our members. Following the standards is a chronological order of events that typically occur when establishing a new electrical service location with Benton REA. It’s important to note that each project will face its own challenges that may cause delays that are out of our control. However, we take these standards very seriously and are committed to meet the needs of each member. Benton REA Standards for New Services: - Benton REA will respond to all member requests for new service upgrades within three working days of initial contact.
- Once the member or applicant meets with a Benton REA employee at the site, Benton REA will provide an estimate and/or contract within three working days.
- If delays are encountered during this stage (such as easement problems), a letter indicating the problems will be sent to the member or applicant within three working days. A follow-up letter(s) will be sent every 10 days to update the member or applicant regarding the progress of the problem until the problems have been resolved.
- If the member does not respond to the estimate and/or contract, Benton REA will contact the member by mail within 30 days upon which the estimate and/or contract was mailed.
- Within 10 working days of receipt of a signed contact and/or money being paid by the member on a specific project, Benton REA will contact the member and be ready to schedule the work necessary on the member’s site.
Chronological Work Flow for New Service: - Member – Contacts Benton REA for electrical service and provides information for New Service application.
- Benton REA – Meets member at the site, prepares job, service, work orders, defines easements and permits, and collects the $100 engineering fee.
- Benton REA – Sends contract, easements and estimate to member.
- Member – Signs contract and, if necessary, provides Benton REA with funds.
- Benton REA – schedules and constructs the electrical facilities. Final connections will be completed following the Department of Labor and Industries inspection.
