From the large, wholesale renewable projects to the small residential application, Benton REA supports cost effective renewable resources. In 1994, Benton REA joined some other northwest electric cooperatives as part owners of a landfill generation project called Coffin Butte. But many Benton REA members want a more hands on participation in renewable energy and have expressed interest in residential projects such as solar and wind. Investigating the various laws, rules, regulations, and incentives can be an overwhelming task for members. But understanding all these aspects and getting accurate information is essential for people to make wise decisions. That is why Benton REA regularly conducts classes to for members to get accurate and essential information about small, residential renewable energy projects.
